If my life were a book, and I were the author, how would I want this story to go? This is the question that Amy Purdy asked herself when she lost her legs. This is truly one of the most inspiring and emotional videos I’ve watched in a long time. Give yourself and gift and watch it too. I promise, it will make you think differently about your life and what is possible.

Oh my god, I love this woman.  And what’s even better, Sheryl Sandberg, another of my heroes is interviewing her.  Oprah is without a doubt one of the most dynamic and influential women of our time and she is wise beyond words (see my post, 10  things we can learn from Oprahs about business).  In this video she talks about her own fears in launching the O network and how she is managing now that she is not running her show every day. I started to write some of the amazing quotes that she made during this video, but there are too many… watch this video – she will make you believe that it’s all possible just by being you.

I’m currently putting together the presentation for this month’s Moxie Club and as part of my research came across this amazing video from Tony Hseih, the CEO of Zappos. Zappos has become the most successful online shoe retailer in the US starting from $1.6m in 1999 to $1.2 billion last year (wow!). Their secret to success is not a secret and there is some great advice and wisdom in this video.

Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg looks at why a smaller percentage of women than men reach the top of their professions — and offers 3 powerful pieces of advice to women aiming for the C-suite.

Long before Sheryl Sandberg left Google to join Facebook as its Chief Operating Officer in 2008, she was a fan. Today she manages Facebook’s sales, marketing, business development, human resources, public policy and communications. It’s a massive job, but one well suited to Sandberg, who not only built and managed Google’s successful online sales and operations program but also served as an economist for the World Bank and Chief of Staff at the US Treasury Department.

Sandberg’s experience navigating the the complex and socially sensitive world of international economics has proven useful as she and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg work to strike a balance between helping Facebook users control privacy while finding ways to monetize its most valuable asset: data.

Yesterday at our 3rd Annual Conference, we showed this video as part of the introduction to the event.  We put it together to celebrate 100 years of inspiring women, as this is the 100th year of International Women’s Day.   These are just a few of the women that have each changed the world for the better in their own way.

These women are all leaders in their fields and inspiring in so many ways. They share the traits of courage, self belief, determination and tenacity. They each had a vision of what they wanted to achieve and set out to achieve it. One of the things I want you to all think about when you are watching this video is what you want for yourself. What do you want to achieve? What is your vision? What do you need to do to make that happen?

A poignant reminder that even today, we have a long way to go to be equal on International Women’s Day 2011.

It’s easy to forget that we live in a privileged position here in the UK, but even here, the truth is that we are not equal with our male counterparts. This video is a new short film by the artist and director Sam Taylor-Wood, and was released today to coincide with International Women’s Day and stars James Bond actors Daniel Craig and Judi Dench, shares some of the startling facts about women in our society.

Liza Donelly was one of the speakers during the TEDx Women conference.  TED are releasing this videos over a period of time and this was one of the most enjoyable presentations of the day.  It will leave you laughing and celebrating being a woman.
