What's new this week

Hi, If you are based in the South East you will be one of the many that have been snowbound over the past couple of days. It does make me laugh how London comes to a stand still when we have a little snow, but it is also a great opportunity to take a bit of a break, have some fun and spend some time on your business, rather than in it. In the Hall household we have had some great snowman and snow angel fun but now it's time to get down to business. Melanie Worthy has given us her perspective in her Diary of a Startup feature:

At Women Unlimited, we are pleased to announce that we are going to be running a series of workshops at the British Library starting in April. We would be really interested to find out from you what type of workshops would be most valuable to you. Click here to fill out our survey and let us know what would be most beneficial to you.

We've recently updated our events page and now have events listed that are both from the Women Unlimited network and also a listing of Women's events that has been provided by Networking. So check them out if you are looking for some interesting events to go to over the next couple of months.

Finally (so it's such a long intro!) it's COMPETITION TIME... you can come along to see Seth Godin live (THE marketing guru of our time) in London on February 17th. Tickets are now sold out, but we have TWO to spare. One ticket will be available to Create your Future delegates (this is your best chance to win) and the other will be available if you sign up via our website. If you can make it you really shouldn't miss this opportunity!

All the best, Julie

All things fabulous...

Claire Collins is someone who has taken an old idea and given it a new twist. She is the founder of Violet May, a luxury business accessories brand for women. As with many great business ideas, the inspiration for Violet May came from her own needs. She was her own target market. Frustrated by the lack of chic, feminine business accessories, Claire decided that she was going to create fabulous products that were built with usability and practicality in mind as well as style.

Claire Collins - Violet May

Before Violet May, most products in this space were created and designed by men. There were very few products at the luxury end of the market, and most of the products at the mass market end were either pink or floral. So, Claire decided that she wanted to create a brand that was about all things fabulous. She felt the world didn’t need another handbag maker, but that there was a niche and an opportunity to create classic luxury business accessories for women. Read more...
