What's new this week
Hi
Welcome to this lovely Wednesday morning! This is the first newsletter in a while as we have been very busy with the Create your Future Conference, which was a huge success. Liz Chukwu wrote this article on her blog and we thought it encompassed the day so well, we reprinted it on the Women Unlimited website. Thanks Liz!
We have a new writer on board, Amy Harrison. Amy is going to show you what you can achieve without a huge budget or technological know-how. She will also be doing a series as a regular “Web Therapist” . You can submit your site to the “Web Therapy Clinic” and she will do a profile on your website with hints and tips on how to improve it. If you would like your website to be considered for this please send an email to amy@women-unlimited.co.uk.
As always, we love to hear from you, so please let us know if there are any topics you would like to see covered or if you have any feedback on the newsletter or website.
All the best, Julie.

Simon Woodroffe on success, entrepreneurship and starting a business
by Julie Hall

He has not had an easy life and would freely admit that in his early years that he did not always made |

the best choices for himself; but there came a point, after turning 40 where he decided that enough was enough and that if didn’t do something now, he was never going to. So he cashed in his existing assets and took 2 years out of his life to plan, create, and build the company that was to make his name and fortune. YO! Sushi.
This decision, a risky one at the time, has clearly transformed his life. ... read this article |

Anita Roddick on her journey and on female entrepreneurs
Anita Roddick was an amazing lady and a great loss. Thankfully through the magic of You Tube we are still able to see her share her views and ideas about what it is to be a successful. What was in her psyche as she created the Body Shop empire.
I love how honest Anita is about. She is very real about what it meant for her to build the Body Shop. She has some great views on what it means to be a female entrepreneur - and she really knocks the banks. |

One of our favourite books...

From Acorns: How to Build a Brilliant Business
This is one of my favourite startup books, but the advice can be used by anyone in the early stages of their business lifecycle.
The book is written in an easy to read style that doesn’t bog you down in complex financial forecasting and the intricacies of tax law (because we know you’ve got enough to worry about this week). Instead it tells you everything you absolutely need to know to get your business off to a fantastic start – and nothing else.
Discover:
- how to tell if you’ve got a great business idea
- what goes on in the mind of a bank manager
- how to price your product/service
- why you need a dragon to look after your cash flow
- how to be a great guerilla marketer
plus hundreds of other tips and pieces of practical advice that make the difference between success and failure.

Scavenger has reports on almost every type of business that you might want to start. Their 4-5 page reports will cover the basics on how to get started, professional associations and requirements. They have over 800 reports and guides to help research a business idea or market, write a business plan, and start up a small business.
